Public healthcare is being discussed today, more than ever !
With the COVID pandemic, we have encountered for the first time a disease that affects everyone, irrespective of their age, gender, socioeconomic status or lifestyle. Consequently, a public health problem i.e., COVID is now the highest priority for everyone, not just healthcare and healthcare related fields.
And while the quality of public healthcare is heavily dependent on the complex, geography-specific, system-driven processes, and the motivation and urge of the public health caregivers, the expectations from tech are high.
Unfortunately, most public health systems were totally unprepared for the scale of the COVID issue and it exposed the weaknesses inherent in all of them. In particular, a problem of this magnitude needed a system able to rapidly scale up capabilities for both people and processes. Only a system equipped with the latest technologies and based on advanced artificial intelligence could manage such a public health crisis effectively.
As technology has successfully transformed various walks of human life, it is anticipated that it is a change-maker in the field of healthcare as well. And it is! Technology has driven healthcare transformation across the globe. But it is often expensive, inaccessible, and complex to apply to a large public health care system. And hence, there’s no doubt about the importance of modern technologies such as Artificial intelligence in healthcare along with private healthcare. AI is now rapidly replacing conventional public health area systems to make improved healthcare accessible to all
In this talk (details below), Public Health Expert Dr Shruti Dhar will cover how AI can revolutionize management of public health problems focusing on 2 diseases – One, very old and still relevant to India – TB and the other, the obvious choice of COVID.
